While I personally am not offended by those names, I can easily understand if other people are.
You simply went to far and I hope for your own sake that you learned something from it.
Now stop bitching and move on, there are enough threads about people being banned around here.

You know, there is a naming policy.
You don't respect it, you get banned.
Besides, if you name your character like a horrible monster in the form of a man, it means you either like him or wanted to be controversial.
if:
a) you like him - you deserve it. Don't go around talking that to other people, they might break your legs for it.
b) controversy? well, you went too far. I urge you to buy another copy. And name your main "Die Juden Die".

Maybe the Borat thing was stupid on their part, but naming your character Josef Fritzl was asking for it. =\

I hate PC more then anyone, but you are clearly a smart guy and you are rationalizing the names.
Seriously? Have we lost all creativity that we have to try to be clever or witty by using current events, movies and more when creating a name? What happened to all of us geeks who came up with fantastic made-up names?! C'MON PEOPLE! All the creativity and imagination is not lost in the world. We can come up with better names surely.

I think it's plain and clear for anyone of slight maturity that
those names will cause offence to someone at some point.
You should create names that you know won't offend or provoke anyone,
I don't see how you can argue against this and I agree entirely with the
punishment.
Even if the first name was half way acceptable, neither of the others were.

Borat Vs The Blacks: versus implies an adversarial relationship based on race. Can't disagree with banning that name.
Josef Fritzl is a deliberate reference to a living real-life person. That's disallowed even without taking into account what the man did.
Three strikes and you're out.

I believe Guy Gilbert once said something in the trend off (correct me if I'm wrong):
"I'm all okay with free speech. But the breaking with all taboos in the name of free speech as we see today (speaking about the Mohamed cartoon if I remember correctly) without taking anyone else in account is disgusting."
You might consider those names not offensive yourself, but I'm pretty sure you knew it would offend other people.
I don't really care about the names "don't touch me H I V" or "Borat VS the blacks"; but you would have had the stigma burned on you off troublemaker. About "Jozef Fritzl". Hrm, I consider that a step higher than the last 2.
Anet did the right thing, although I consider PERMA banning someone for his name pretty lame-ish. A ban of a couple of weeks -months + name change would have been more in place. At the other hand, it are multiple offensive names so... mhrm... I don’t know but maybe it was the right thing to do. It is a bit on the edge.

You shouldn't try your luck picking names you know they can be seen as offensive by people.
You did try your luck, and see what you got yourself into.

He should have gone with Adolf Fritzl or Jozef Hitler. Maybe he could have tried using a Marilyn Mansonesque excuse then (but it would still be asking for it).

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seem like we're getting more bans on offensive names than actual offensive contents or acts inside the game?

Perhaps there are more offensive names than acts? You seem pretty determined to put Anet at fault here Skullcrasher.

In choosing those names you must have known that you may upset someone, looks like you did so suck it up and learn from it.

There's been an announcement as you login to the game for a while now.
It reads 'Review the naming policy.'
Quote:
We do not permit names that:
- Have offensive racial, ethnic, or national connotations.
- Reference sexual acts or real life violence.
- Are pornographic.
- Make inappropriate references to human anatomy or bodily functions.
- Reference illegal drugs or activities.
- Reference major religious figures.
- Reference certain real-life people that may cause distress (e.g. Hitler).

Banned

It doesn't matter what your name actually is. If someone reports you, they ban you. I got banned for having the name of an actor.

I once was banned for saying "shit" in all chat. Last week someone in RA (who had just stomped us) decided to call us "cocky bitches" and got away unharmed.

I think that anybody that bothers to come up with those names is trolling for unnecessary attention. Since you went and posted to GWG to so-called "protest" your subsequent ban, it certainly sounds like you are starved for attention.
I never did understand why people have a problem with bans based on inappropriate names. Anybody that makes a controversial name is obviously looking for the shock value, and somehow people think that being stupid on the Internet makes you the next Tony Clifton-type protege. Well if you did your research, then you'd know that Andy Kaufman was beaten up repeatedly for his antics, so don't act like you didn't have it coming.
